John, a Yorkshireman and Anne, a Geordie have decades of experience in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality and Customer Service.
Together they have lived in France since 2005 and prior to moving to Vijon, successfully built a "Chambres d'Hotes" business in the Creuse.
After arriving in Vijon in 2012, and having restored their own home, they began to restore the barn into the Gite known as
"The Barn at Vijon"
The Barn was an unloved, unused and very rundown building. It took a lot of effort to even get to the stage where renovations could begin.
Over a period of 2 years sheds, and small outbuildings were knocked down, the roof was replaced, different floor levels were constructed and individual rooms created. Staircases were installed to the different floors, openings for the double doors and windows were created and local craftsmen built French Oak window and door surrounds. Local professionals were employed to deal with the Electrics and Plumbing and finally all the decoration and gardening was completed to make the Barn what it is today.
Re-pointing all external and internal walls, insulation, roof, floors, internal construction, plumbing, electrics, decoration, garden. It was a 2-year project and was completed in 2016
